out of interest how does their 'skill level' compare with the general population on here?

I can do the 'crikey this is tricky' face as well as they all did but seem to fall off a lot more whilst doing it.

I guess I'm trying to rate my crapness really. If they're 'average' on technical stuff then I'm worse than I thought...

They fall off coz it's generally twice as steep as it looks, and almost always greasy as hell. Average riders wouldn't go anywhere near half of those runs.

I aspire to be average so am left feeling that I may achieve my dream, one day.

They're good. I'm a bit crap . But then I guess, trying stuff, takin' the knocks and making it work at whatever level you ride all leads to the big grin.

We can all ride like that oop north. Honest! Its in our genes. After all: we're all actually related to each other, and the skillz come from the added balance we achieve through having 6 webbed toes

Not nearly enough knuckle-bumps and belly-bouncing for my liking.

(looks like a fantastic riding area btw)

Another good vid, nice one ton. You realise the STW purists will be frothing at the gash though, I saw coil shocks on trail bikes, body armour and at least one set of wide bars!

I would love to know where some of these routes are, I love the slower steep tricky stuff.

All seems ok.

Some good riding and good fun to be had there.

Few nasty looking bits

Love that song! The 'trails' in the video, however, scared me.

Nice vid, the riding looks very "British"!

We can all ride like that oop north

even that hora chap?

Only if the head angle on his current bike is within a minute of whatever NASA have calculated it should be.

We're spoilt rotten up here ๐Ÿ˜€

thought the guy at 1:19 was going to bust both knuckles. Would love to go riding with them or the stanage lads*, I'd be apologising for slowing them down and walking all the routes but would love to get shown round and have a go. Thrutch-tech is where it's at ๐Ÿ™‚

*no idea if they are the same group, I know they all seem to ride oranges ๐Ÿ™‚

You're not actually allowed out on the trails around Yokshire or Lancashire unless you have at least one Orange Five in the group. FACT!

RandomJerry, did you see a couple of them were using Totems? 180mm for riding around the woods? Madness I tell you, madness!

How far 'oop north' is that?

I'm in Lancs, and would happily take on those trails ๐Ÿ˜‰

( On a bouncy Orange too! )

There's about a 50/50 split up here CG. Orange 5's and everything else

But Orange's are pretty hefty aren't they? No fun on the climbs surely?

Very first trail I did after I bought mine was that one at 3:00

[Pedant] We had 5 folk riding that day and only 2 were on Orange Fives I'll have you know!!!
The other 3 comprised 2 Divas and an Alpine 160 though ๐Ÿ˜† [/Pedant]

Lots of stuff that I don't recognise in there too though. Bunny Run?

Good work. Keep 'em coming JimBobTed

They're no heftier than most full sussers really . As you can tell from the terrain, race whippet carbon, short-travel stuff ain't much use to you up here. All northern blokes are hefty too. Its genetic. We're big boned, therefore we have to live off pies and pints ๐Ÿ˜‰

Totally unnecessary too. I ride the same 'trails' on my hard tail with 80mm forks ๐Ÿ˜‰

The bits I recognise are Calderdale. Won't be more specific than that or someone will kill me. Lots of stuff that I don't recognise though.

I'm not sure they're too bothered about the climbs from what I saw!

I'm glad I have work/family excuses that mean I don't have to openly admit to being too crap/scared to ride those trails ๐Ÿ˜‰

That's a bit of a myth because the frame looks beasty.

My 2012 five pro weighs pretty much exactly the same as my mate trek fuel ex 9.something... At around 11.5kg so no heavy weight. It climbs better than my cube hardtail too.

It has a few extras that save a bit of weight (hope stainless BB, Hope tech M4s, Fox factory RLC forks, Fox factory rp23 shock, hope headset, maxle rear, easton haven carbon bars, Thomson x4 stem, Gobi xm with magnesium rail) but also has a reverb which adds a bit. The rest is standard five pro so not the lightest spec but still as light as the trek.

Tractor look is still proven to be very strong and solid so I guess not just for effect.
