Anyone ridden the Marin & Penmancho trails-worth a visit or should we stick to Machynleth / Dolgellau for the usual?
Forget what the trail snobs say, they are both good fun, Penmachno especially so...
Penmachno is well worth the journey, not mad on the Marin myself but it'll kill a couple of hours.
Never done the Marin, but will be back again and again to Penmachno, one of these days I'll try the Marin as well, but if you're pushed for time and looking for fun do Penmachno/Llandegla as a combo. Or just head for C-y-B and rattle around there. Depends on the weather and your digs/travelling really.
The Marin has got some good singletrack but does involve a fair bit of fire road in between. I dont care what anyoe says Penmacho is fantastic!! Well worth a visit, the new section has bedded in now and some of it has become quite tecnhical through errosion as well, gr8 fun. As above I would do Penmchno in the morning then go to Llandegla in the afternoon, it's got an excellent visitor center and cafe that does gr8 food, also a bike shop with mechanics (handy if u dinged the old jalopy earlier) - enjoy!!
Penmachno is great, apart from one very wet section it's an excellent trail. My favourite.
We did Llandegla last year so a revisit could be in order - How long is the drive between Penmacho and coed Llandegla?
It takes about 3/4 to an hour to drive depending on traffic
Penmachno and Llandegla are a nice ride for a day out, There are no facilities at Penmac so I would agree with fastindian do it first drive to Llandegla refuel on cake at the caff and away you go.
Penmac both loops works out at 18 miles and the Black run at Llandegla is about 12 miles and thats enough in a day for my fat old legs
