Thinking of finally buying a workstand, to make my life easyer had a bit of a play with a park tools stand at cycleshow last month and was to be honest very dissapointed, it just seem so flimsy!? Any other good stands out there or are they all flimsy?
After some consideration I went for one of the Feedback Sports stands. I went for the pro-ultralight - partly because I am tall. Cheaper and more expensive models are available in the range.
Clamp is good and it is about as stable as a portable stand gets. Merlin are doing them with 20% off not including the extra 10% if signed into their VIP club. Folds down to be easily portable in the car as well if that is important.
Depends where you are going to use it. Obviously if you have a workshop space you can mount a bench or wall mounted stand on and leave it there and have no need of transporting it then there are cheaper options outlined above.
+1 for the feedback ultralight. Needed something that could be packed away and it's really quick to put up very adjustable but most importantly really stable and esy to use. The feedback sliding clamp just seems a lot better than all the rest makes it really easy to use when lifting a bike into the stand. Easy to rotate the bike whichever way you want to access bottom bracket mounted cables and the like.
Realistically it's the sort of thing you'll only buy once so I try to buy the best I can afford but value wise I think I made the best choice.
Not seen the feedback stands before, they look the business! Time to start hinting to the wife about what i would like santa to bring me this year!
I borrow a friends elite spindoctor which seems very sturdy
I too have the feedback stand - it is great. That's about it really.
My workshop has three feedback pro bike stands, and all three have failed to break under heavy abuse. Matter of fact I've asked for one for Xmas, for use at home.
Good choice! I have a Pedros one and it's a total p.o.s and I plan to replace it with a feedback ๐
+1 for Kestrel stand
