i've got the same problem. I've heard that keeping forks upside down is keeps seals from drying out. But take off the brakes, cos you don't want to leave them USD for that long. I'd oil stuff up and take off anything that may seize due to lack of use, especially if you don't regularly maintain your bike (e.g. BB, seatpost)

Post it to yourself insured recorded delivery. You won't be in, so they'll have to keep it safe for a period, then return to sender, which will be your address, and you won't be in, so they'll have to keep it safe for a period...etc. Then go pick it up when you get back. If they lose it.. Cashback!

I'd take the chain off and keep that somewhere properly dry and stick a greasy allen key in all the bolt heads to stop them from going rusty. Don't worry about the forks. Flipping it upside down for half an hour when you get back will lube up the bushings and foam rings. The pads might end up leaving rust marks on the rotors so put the wheels in back to front and put a spacer in the brakes.

If anyone breaks into your shed and tries to nick it they'll be well confused!
