The plastic dust caps sit over the bearing so tightly they're a bugger to get off without breaking them. Any tips?

I think a fine flat-bladed screwdriver should work, if you're gentle. Or an o-ring/90 degree pick thing. Not actually tried to get mine off yet, though they are due a little attention.

I've found a method. Use a small, thin flat head (like an electrical screwdriver) and get it between the cap and bearing looking at the cup from the inside. You can then gently work it off applying a little force until it starts moving. But go steady, they're very easy to break.

That's great. Cheers for the update. I'll have to get mine dealt with now.

Maybe use a thin Stanley blade…?
