[Closed] Best way to install grips?

Yes, it is an utterly trivial and banal question, but all of the foam grips I end up installing end up spinning after a while, with the dreaded 'motorbike grip' syndrome. I do use Gripshifts but even so, there must be a way to put them on so this doesn't happen.

I've ordered a pair of ESI Chunky foam grips, and on the website it says "Install ESI MTB grips by using Rubbing Alcohol, Compressed Air or Window cleaner ONLY!" I've always used hairspray. Will any of these help?

If not, what advice can people give to make sure my grips don't twist?

Get some lock on foam grips?

I used to use hairspray with mixed success... Heavy rain used to loosen them up and have um spinning ๐Ÿ™

Esi grips are made of magic stuff. I have just used water to help slide them on, then leave overnight to dry and they stick fine. I used them in the torrential D2D a couple of years ago with no spinning. Removing them was very difficult too, had to lift the ends and spray water underneath.

For ESI, cableties. Get 4 ties, stick them down the grip (knobbly end out). Now slide on. It's fiddly but you want to get them fairly equally spaced. End result, you're sliding on the smooth plastic instead of the very grippy ESI rubber. Once (more or less) in place, pull the ties out one at a time.

Putting them on this way means totally clean grips and bars, no residues or wet spots or owt, I've never had one move once on even on smooth carbon bars.

Wrap your bars in double sided tape, apply white spirit, slide on grips.

A billion golf clubs cannot be wrong.
