Wahey it's Friday! I've had the afternoon off and have been prepping my bike for a weekend of trail bashing. I was using my Pedros Pro Torque Wrench 1.0 to attach a new cassette and I've ****ed it! The wrench is definitely broken, probably because I carried on torquing after I should have stopped. The wrench lacks a decent snap. Can any of you recommend where I could get it serviced?

More importantly what high-end (20-200nm) torque wrenches do you recommend for BBs and cassettes? I have a little BBB torque wrench which covers 0-25nm and is excellent with a satisfying snap. Basically a joy to use. But I need a cheapish high-end wrench as I love torquing!!

Do you seriously need a torque wrench for BBs and lockrings in particular?

Your knackered torque wrench shows the problem with them - they tend to de-skill the users who just rely on them rather than applying common sense too. Besides they're useless unless properly calibrated.

For the kind of values you state (20-200Nm, which are car-like values!) then a Halfords Pro jobbie for £50 will suffice. IIRC they're not available in that scale: think it's 8Nm to 60Nm, and 60Nm to 200Nm.

Highest I've seen on a bike is 40Nm. Just crank those things by hand, no need for a specific wrench.

Unless you want to pay silly money then the best torque wrench is learnt by lots of spannering.Plus they aint that accurate anyway because they don't allow for friction, unless you angle torque as well...
& it is only a bike your using it on 8)
