I've just moved house, and I have a huge overgrown bank out the back of my garden.....

I'm thinking of digging in my own personal exit track.

What tools and/or processes do I need?

Depends on how you want to do it really. You can just clear off a trail then ride it in like nobeer says...

Or you can go for the more crafted approach, in which case, an azada/digging hoe is ace. And a cheap mattock for taking out roots and shifting firm stone and that.

I have one of these: https://www.edged-arts.co.uk/rhino-trailbuilding-tool-rogue-hoes-usa-rh80rh

Obviously expensive but it's basically a work multiplier, I can get twice as much done with this as I can with b&q tools and that's worth the price to me. You can scrape, dig, clear, weed, trench, compact, basically all the key jobs.
