Trying to figure the best summer XC race tyre....riding my first race for sometime next week (southern XC) which I understand has fire roads/single track but I guess little mud. I am a lightweight at 65kg and want something fast and reliable with good puncture resistance...oh and i run tubes. any advice? Michelin XC Dry 2 at £20 look good.

michelin dry twos are fantastic, cheap, but a little heavy.

What is 'Summer tyre' and what is this 'Race' you speak of?

Razers!? Furious Freds FTW if you want death tyres.

They've never done a dry race at that venue, but in the wet it's really really horrific, so I wouldn't worry too much! Even after this week's rain I suspect it may be a bit sticky.

FWIW I like Rocket Rons as my 'default' tyre, knobblier than a Ralph whilst being lighter.

Getting on well with 1.8" Nobby Nics so far this Summer.

Well I chop and change, and annoyingly ripped one at the Nat Champs, so currently running Ron/Ralph, but yes, I tend to use Rons both ends most of the time, Ralphs if it's rocky (although I used Rons at Margam this year) and a Fred on the back if it's going to be really dry.
