[Closed] Best sub £1000 XC full susser

The boardman did seem to do well in ST mag, and the component spec is ridiculous for £1k

KHS (a mail order only brand I think) has some very well specced bikes for the money, so it may be that they may do something suitable. No idea how they ride though

aye the boardman spec is great, especially when you think that most other bikes have seen a 10-15% increase in price in 2010

I didn't buy A Boardman because I was worried about sizing (I'm 6'4") and the Singletrack review said it wasn't the best for heavy riders (I'm 100kg). I think at £1000 for a FS bike you can't get pickey. I went used in the end but I had no cycle to work scheme option.

MBUK has a good discussion of full FS on a budget. THe boardman was the exception to the you need to paqy over a grand rule

I'm 16st and hammer mine (drops and jump), not bent it yet.

Ive got a 2009 KHS-604 and one of the lads at work got a 2010 KHS-604. He got his on the cycle to work scheme. You get Manitou forks on the '10 model and hope brakes.
Love mine. does what i need. No doubt will swap the forks for something better at the end of the year, but for now its fine.

KHS are very good for the money, I've got 2!

The Boardman really is brilliant. People talk crap about the frame, but only because there's nothing else about them they can feasibly criticise as it's all ridiculously high spec. It's a lightweight and not too rough-and-tumble bike though so more a classic XC machine than a traibike
