iv got a fugi film fine pixs xp10, shock proof ,water, ect ect
well worth the money in my eyes
Photos only - or some video too?
photo only
If money is no object then Canon S95, very small, excellent photos, very expensive.
Samsung EX1. Superb lens, easy to use, especially on manual setting. Quick (for a compact) response, very good value, looks great.. has a silent option..which I love and tough construction.. Does vid too..
I'm a cynical professional using D3S's as main cameras and very much enjoy using the Samsung. Can take it out more often too.
i'd say that new olympus zx-1 only because it's the one i want
Canon S95 and Panasonic LX5 if you want RAw and control
Research for my mum says Canon Ixus 220 HS if you don't need RAW etc.
good zoom range 24-120 equivalant
small
image stabilised
8 fps (at 3 Megapixels)
HD vid
better than some in low light

unless you want to go up asize and get loads more zoom......
After lots of research I bought an S95, but also seriously considered the LX5.
Love my LX5 but it was a close run thing between it and the S95
Got an XZ-1 recently and the lens is great!
For absolute usability (as opposed to outright image quality) id recommend

Used to carry a GF1 around, but after a few offs got increasingly worried not only about the camera, but also my spine !!!
Now have this clipped to the shoulder strap of my camebak, lens facing into the strap and tucked under the elastic hose bit. Makes for a great poor mans video cam as well.
Caveat, its not going to win any awards for image quality, nor user adjustability but this thing is seriously bulletproof ... which counts for more for me when cycling.
