Looking for some nice City tyres for a commuter project but as this is the first time I've looked at slick tyres I've no idea what to look for... They'd need to be relatively cheap and for a pair ideally less than £40.

What are your recommendations?

I have just put a pair ofconti sport contact on

Puncture proof - guaranteed and very fast rolling. Noticeably lighter and quicker than the marathons I had on before

comes with an inner tube for low 20s pounds

ahh, thanks for the advice chaps; going on reviews by BR, the Big Apples seem just what I'm looking for... Weight isn't too much of an issue with this build but wouldn't particularly want something over the 700g mark...

Again many thanks.

tiny slivers of glass can work their way thru eventually -T'missus ha a pair onher commuter and has had a couple of punctures like that in 5 years of commuting.. If the tyre is less than a year old and you get a puncture tho they give you a new tyre and tube.

Been riding on the contis this week - very impressed with grip and speed. Its a small tyre so can be a bit harsh

Put the sport contacts one one of our bikes - made a huge difference. They are very fast - and can be had at a very reasonable price(with free inner tube) from ukbikestore

conti ultra gator skins if youre prepared to pony up the money for them. I've had them on 26" and 700c commuters and they have been flawless for ages.

or the sports contacts. Conti tyres in general for me all the way.

I have schwalbe ones ... too big and heavy for my liking.
