Got an XT chainset and XTR cassette/rear mech. My old sram chain is a little tired now so was wondering if there is any real difference between chains?
Quite like the idea of a KMC gold one!!?

I'd go for an XTR one myself. Ive fitted hundreds of Shimano chains over the years and, despite what some people will say, I've never had a properly installed one break.
SRAM, on the other hand, break very easily, despite the link profiling making them a little more resistant to chainsuck.( I'd still avoid)
KMCs reliability falls between the two, definately worth trying, though I find shifting is a tiny bit slower.
