Due a new chain for my gx eagle, last one has lasted 700 miles, regularly cleaned and lubed, now has one link that squeaks and between 50 and 75 percent. Not sure if that's good or not. Anyways, am I best going with gx again, or a better spec like x01 or another brand like kmc?

I’ve just stuck a KMC X12 on a new Eagle drivetrain as I couldn’t easily get a gold XX1 chain (wanted gold on this build, but got oil slick on the other) and it’s noisier than XX1.
Shimano I find are worse in the mud for 12 speed - something about the inner plate shape doesn’t allow mud through so easily.
X01 or XX1, they last ages and are worth the extra over GX. A good article on chains is here.
Yeah, X01/XX1 have great longevity, which will hopefully mean your expensive cassette lasts too.
If you've let the chain wear to between 0.5% and 0.75% on eagle GX cassette, my experience is that a new X01 chain will skip.
X01. I snapped two KMC chains then went straight back to sram.
I jumped to X01 from NX and am as happy as you can be with a chain purchase! Put on at 0.5 wear and havent had any skipping issues on the GX cassette.
Just checked the app I use to record chain use and the NX chain wore past 0.50 in 218 miles, the X01 chain has done 152 miles and was below 0.25 last night, although the NX chain did the winter slop riding which might have accelerated the wear.
Any really. Stocks are pretty low expect for really expensive ones I noticed last week. Got a 12s slx level chain from pedalon for a gx cassette/chainring. No issues with shifting as it was replacing another slx.
I've swapped out for another gx. I wanted a x01 as per recommended but nobody seemed to have any stock. Could only get gx or xx1, xx1 abit to much £ for me
Have you actually looked at stock/prices? 12 speed is pretty much unavailable in the UK, not even much choice across europe so I didn't ask what's best, I asked what I could find and what I could afford 🙁

Ive had 2 snap in the last year and a mate had a brand new one snap last weekend, I won't be buying any more kmc chains. I find a Shimano chain works best on a Shimano cassette, sram chain with sram cassette
