Can anyone tell me where the best technical descents are on the Malverns? Heading to the area tomorrow and I thought I may as well squeeze in a ride.

Cheers
Dickie

There's absolutely no riding to be had in Malvern ๐Ÿ˜€ What time are you looking at? ๐Ÿ˜‰

TBH, there's loads of good riding on the Malverns, but it's spread over a large / narrow area, with alot of tracks being out of bounds, but protected by the purple-rinse brigade, unfortunately.

Maybe, it's hard to tell which are legal/cheeky trails when on the hills, one or two exceptions - clearly marked at the beginning, genrerally I find courteous riding doesn't get anyone upset - if someone gets upset just apologies and eat humble pie.

on the ground it's almost impossible to tell which are bridleways and which are footpaths. The OS map is accurate though

There are two paths that specifically have signs. One of which is a strictly evening/night path after the dog walkers have gone to bed, the other is signed because funding to put it in place came from disabled access grants. Its a silly classification because its the only section that would allow you to do a full circuit of the hills at high level without covering the same path twice. SO I ignore it and Ive had conversations with the conservators about it and I think they understand the point, but for show must maintain the facade.

I usually only ride in the evenings to avoid the dog walkers, and now I live down the southern end of the hills I dont have to worry much at all as long as I avoid camp before 6pm.

I did meet a grumpy bitch the other evening, but gave her no rope. She just did her belligerent thing but kept schtum. Hopefully the bile will send her to an early grave.

There are two paths that specifically have signs.

I'm aware of a path above Jubilee Drive that is a 'no bicycles' path. Where is the other? I tend to avoid British Camp. I'm not sure which path has the 'disabled access grant'?

The Malvern Hills really are best ridden in the dark.
