Im toying with the idea of getting a bike cam - whats the best one around?
I know ST has done tests & if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

If you have a decent video camera on your mobile phone and decent insurence to cover it when you crash you can make a head cam for next-to-nothing.
Get one long spoke and bend it into a double "U" shape, cable tie it to your helmet with 3 to 4 ties, slot your mobile in the make-shift holder and fix it with 2 rubber bands.
It may sound a bit heath robinson but it works. Obviously the better the camera in the phone the better the quality will be. If you already have the phone then the cost is about £1.00

I'm very close to buying a 'tachyon xc' camera - seems to have come out well in lots of online reviews.
Only available from the states, so I'm a bit worried about import tax :-/

I'm a big fan of the VIO POV camera. It's pricey, but the build quality is outstanding and video quality is very good. You can see a few (rubbish) examples on my [url=

page.

The last time I looked, there was sample video from all the cameras that ST tested on their Vimeo account.

ContourHD has just been released, could be worth trying out. HD @30fps, or more importantly standard definition at 60fps for fast sports like biking:

ContourHD looks quite interesting, but they must be throwing a whole load of compression on the video to get it onto a SD/MicroSD card.

I got the same as smudge, after he recommended it. Must say it's very good and easy to use.

DV500 and a Sony 580 bullet cam

Sorry for thread drift but is it possible to rent a good quality head cam. I have a mate who jumped the good ship Blighty and has gone to live in Argentina. He is missing some of our old routes and would like to do some videoing when he comes back to gods own country in September for a fortnights worth of good beer and crap weather but doesnt want to cough up for a good quality cam thats only going to be used for a week at most.

I've got a Gopro Hero Wide and think it's great

Quality is fine, OK it's not HD, but neither in the price

It also has lots of different mounts avaialble for it. I've got helmet mount, bars /narrow tubes mount, rollbar / wide tubes mount and a chest mount. All of these are very good and hold it rock solid

It might be too late now, but toys r us were selling off their stock of ATC2Ks. got mine for £25 quid (brand new display model in box with all the cables, clips etc) Its worth checking your local store . They are ok but the sound is a bit rubbish.

This looks like a steal. I've seen one in the flesh and it looks really good on its small built in display but I haven't seen the output on a big screen yet.
