Hiya - My eldest son has bent the gear hanger bit of his frame. It's a cheap thing where the mech attaches direct to the frame rather than via a separate mech. I think bending it back will weaken/crack it.. is it repairable, or time to find a replacement?

I've successfully straightened an alu hanger before, but it wasn't badly bent in the first place. Only one way to find out! I'm guessing some application of heat might help.
If it doesn't straighten well you might get away with an emergency mech hanger.
it'll either snap/crack when you straighten it, or it'll stay good until the next time it takes a hit
Maybe get a spare just in case...
Spare frame? (It's not a replaceable dropout according to the OP).
Might as well try to straighten it. If it's not rideable, you've nothing a lot to lose really.
Its best to try and correct it in one slow movement rather than lots of little adjustments. Perfect excuse to buy a hanger alignment tool.
if its only a small bend then just bend it back. If its a lot then heat it first. alloy IIRC tends to work harden so the actually bent bit gets harder and more brittle and heating this counteracts it.
