Hi I can find no explanation or from Madison of the benefits of the new 10 speed front mechs. How are they improved? Do they only work with new shifters or would I benefit from using one on a double ring setup while still using 9 speed at the rear? Presumably the shifting ratios have not changed?

They're narrower (in the cage). With Shimano at least. That's it. They work fine whether the everything else is 9-spd or not.
