Does anyone know if the Air Ambulance covers Ben Lomond, and whether they charge extra for taking broken bikes down with the owners?
Ha ha
You should be fine. If you get tired, just give them a bell and they'll come get you.
If you call them let me know and I will catch a ride up with them!
Not for me.... just concerned for a few mates..... might need to reserve a few rooms at the [s]Best[/s] Western Infirmary.

Famous last words..... ๐
I was looking at the Meetup page - this is for the overnighter on Ben Lomond eh? Sounds awesome, wish I could join you.
It's a pretty knackering push/ride up - but the descent fairly takes it out of you too. I imagine not really having any sleep too could make for some exciting crashes - big bike, FF helmet and body armour is in order imo. ๐
Wallace get a grip surely they are responsible for their own actions, worse case scenario the mountain rescue are called out with a elastoplast and a stretcher.

No grip required from me, just a wry sense of humour, and a great nod of respect in the direction of the guys doing it. Of course they are responsible for their own safety...... etc etc etc.... I though you could have a wee joke on this forum? 8) The 4077th stationed at Rowerdennan on saturday morning?
We went up the Ben at night once in shorts and Ts with beer and music. As we passed walkers we asked what the nightclub was like at the top. They of course told us there was not one and we argued that there was and they must have missed it.
They must have been worried because they called the mountain rescue and some fell running rescue monkey came tanking up the hill to check we were alright at about 11.30PM! We gave him beer and had a laugh and then he went on his way running straight back down the hill. Was all very odd...
Cool place.

Ha.
We're setting off at midnight on Friday with the aim of seeing the sunset from the summit, then bombing/ mincing down.

Sunrise Bob, sunrise..... otherwise might have a long stay at the summit! ๐ 8)
It is lovely, we watched the sunrise and you could see the little ribbons of cloud lifting up off the different bodies of water etc. We then had a very drunken running race down the Ptarmigin Ridge route. When I woke up at 3PM and went to get out of my bed I collapsed on the floor in pain. Took about 6 years for my knee to heal which included starting to ride bikes again for a year which seemed to be the cure.

Well spotted, though with my pace there's always a chance it will be sunset by the time I'm up top
Can I use this as an excuse to post these again? ๐

the sleep deprivation isn't as bad as you might think though.. Ive done quite a few rides with no sleep the night before over the years, (not by choice i may add) the adrenaline keeps you awake...
well looking forward to this adventure ๐
i walked it a couple of years ago with broken ribs, cant be worse than that...

All the best to the boys for the delayed trip tonight. I will be tucked up in bed, hopefully full of beer and pizza.
