3 years ago today.
Never got to meet him but still an inspiration to me.
For those of us feeling a bit repressed at the moment spend some time gazing at a map and let your inner Mike plan your future adventures.
Crikey, three years.
I was sat on the platform at Dyfi Junction having done the Trans Cambrian Way when I got a text from my wife with the news. The train carriages were a bit dusty I recall.
Met him a couple of times - TD and on the final day of his round the world ride; he stopped to say hi to me in the Butser cutting of the busy A3 and he wanted to get off the road cos it was too busy..... I wish he was riding there today, he would have it to himself.
I remember riding with Mike and some work buddies way before his round the world exploits when he was working as an engineer at the digger factory. Always first to the top of the hill, a very good rider indeed. Didn't know then what he'd go on to do.
Can't pretend I knew him particularly but always followed what he was doing with great interest.
