First race is this weekend. What can I expect in terms of course and current conditions?

Never ridden there. Ta.

Blimey - just popped on to ask the exact same question!  I'm regular there but not been for some time as a fair weather fairy these days - had a fair bit of rain down here lately and Bedgebury does keep some muddy areas for some time IME so looking forward to any replies.

FWIW the riding there is pretty flat and gentle - I'm a SSer and rode fully rigid for many years - it's ideal for both.

In terms of course its a pretty flat non-technical loop broken up with fireroad but no difficult sections. Ideal as a xc race circuit I reckon but difficult to pass people until you hit fireroad sections.

I rode it about 2 weeks ago and it was pretty well drained with plenty of braking bumps and exposed roots where soft soil had been worn away over the winter.

If the race uses the main trail loop it's generally rideable in all weather but there's a few sections that get muddy and slippery.

Thanks all. How does it compare to a Gorrick course or maybe Ashton Park in Bristol?

The race track is completely separate from the main trail.  It can get very sloppy and there a couple of rooty bits which some folk will stall on.  Brilliant organisation and great fun though!

As stated, it's a completely separate loop. Takes about 6mins/lap and is wonderfully involving as it twists and turns through the trees. it's a surprisingly good racetrack and great for treating as a fun race.

Sounds good. Was weighing up the driving:riding ratio, but it’s actually no further than most of the Gorrick rounds and looks like the track’ll be open for a good while beforehand.

Well, I rode (or more accurately slithered and glooped) it this morning (pics below), now as mentioned above I'm a fair weather fairy so to me it was a partial mud bath!  😉

Bedgebury Boars Facebook group is saying the race has been cancelled this weekend due to trail conditions.
