Any recommendations on which bearings to get for my 9 month old shot hope pro 2 evos?
Went to swinley today with my Mrs and 3.5 year old son, he absolutely loved riding round the twisty sections..
After washing all the bikes off at home, noticed my rear bearing is rougher than a badgers ass!

£35 for a set of bearings? Is it me or does that sound expensive?

How do enduro bearings compare from mb bearings? Got my anthem bearings from them..

That's not expensive, you get what you pay for with bearings.

Am I correct in saying I need 5 bearings?
2 x S61903
1 x S17287
2 x S6803

It's five bearings, so £35 for high quality stuff is not unreasonable IMO.
Have you had the freehub off? Might just be the two hub bearings that need replacing and the freehub ones are OK (last longer IME).

Not had it off yet..its notchy if I spin the 15mm hub adaptors..I'm guessing the freehub bearing might be OK..

Hopes original bearings lasted much longer than Enduro bearings in my front Pro 11.

Which of the Hope kits with drifts etc. does one need for servicing Pro 2 Evo's at home?

I have the original drift kit from the pro2, which is fine for hub she'll bearings, but no good for freehub bearings. Need to do a bit of lathe work, just haven't bothered yet. I don't know if they ever brought out a kit for the Evo hub.

I've got a mill at home, so making the drifts isn't a problem for me.. 🙂

NDS bearing needs the Evo drift to fit it fully but the std Pro2 drift at least seats it. Won't fit over the axle properly tho.
Another vote for katec bearings here, you'll probably only need the 2 main body bearings. At least 2:1 main body to freehub bearing lifespan ime.

Why would you use Enduro bearings, which are full compliment, in a hub? They are the wrong type to use. Katec are just rebranded cheap bearings with posh looking grease pumped into arn't they?

I've just stripped my rear hub.. Bearings in the freehub body seem fine.

Spinning the axle in the hub feels awful, indicating both the axle bearings.
Knocked the axle out, the one that's left on the axle feels smooth.
Spinning the bearing left in the hub, freehub side..feels terrible.
After some surprising amount of force, I removed this bearing. Which when out doesn't feel bad...
There's just the tiniest feel of grinding..

Had a chat with hope who suggested maybe the tolerance of the hub is out. But there going to send me a bearing FOC to see if that sorts it. "Bearing" in mind the wheels aren't a year old yet.

If that doesn't sort it then I'll have to pay for them to be sent to hope for an inspection..

Depends how you look at stuff I suppose. I see bearings as a consumable, and appreciate how difficult it is to seal something that rotates, especially in our climate.

That bearing (hub drive side) is the one that fails most often IME, due to the extra forces exerted on that side I'd imagine.

Hopefully it's just failed like you say and the hub is fine..

Any recommendations on grease?

I've got finish line Teflon grease in the house..

I prefer to use a proper marine grease, as it's not as light as bike grease. mobil 222 if you have a local supplier.

Local bike shop or local bearing shop would be first calls

Defo. I tried some very cheap fleabay equivalents on my Hope Pro 2 front hub and they lasted two sessions on the DH bike. Bike went into LBS for something else to be done and as they took it off me the guy noticed wheel play - I was staggered and, as I knew I'd fitted bearings only a short while before, had not even checked them myself.

Also, I second the advice that whatever bearings you get, carefully prize out the seals and put some high quality marine or plant (digger) grease in there.

Cheap bearings last a month or two with me. The hope bearings last about a year. Quite a pronounced difference.

Last time I serviced mine it was the same bearing than was rough (driveside hub-shell).
