I'm looking at heading over to the De Panne beach race in November for a bit of a change as it looks interesting.
Has anyone done it before and if so, what tyres do you run for this type of race?
I've seen a few posts mentioning Battle on the Beach but I'm led to believe that De Panne is run on softer sand rather than the fairly firm surface at Pembrey.
Any suggestions?
Oh and it's MTB only, no fat bikes or CX bikes allowed.
Have a look at what off the shelf Dutch beach race bikes come with as stock, e.g. Schwalbe Thunder Burt 2.1 front tire and rear Schwalbe Big One Evolution 2.35 beach tire on the Koga
Thunder Burt's or G ones.. Or anything light, slickish and preferably run tubeless at low volume
the fast dutch guys at BOTB were on these:

I'm looking for some advice on tyre and bike choice for sandafter signing up to Sandblasted.
CX running 2.1 Thunderburt front & 34mm Tracer or 37mm Riddler rear.
Hardtail (120mm fork) with either 29ers with Panama ceramic Gravel king SK 40mm or 26ers with Ground Control 2.1 Front & FastTrack Rear.
Full Suss (130mm f/r) Bont XR4 2.4, Gravel king SK 40mm or Thunderburt 2.1
Or some other mix of the above I haven't thought of...
Depending on the type of sand.
If it's soft then the fatter the better.
I guess the Sandblaster beach will be firm. Then it's Schwalbe Big One's front and back for sure.
