"A vicious trap set for Wigan cyclists has claimed its first victim - a mountain biker has come forward today to tell how he was taken by surprise by a wire in Haigh Hall country park set deliberately to injure cyclists."
More on the link.
that's nasty shit going down right there. presumably the perpetrator doesn't realise the magnitude of the criminal charges he/she could potentially be up against.
There are some sickos around aren't there?
I think a lot of these issues come about because land access hasn't been debated sensibly in England and Wales. The archaic ROW system combined with the massive overcrowding on our island means pressure on our wild spaces is pretty intense in many areas.
That's not to excuse what happened there, just to say that as a society we need to think about this stuff.
what massive overcrowding?
shit thing to do, i suspect not really thought through the possibilities - unlikely to ever result in prosecution if its a one off.
There appears to be some trail sabotaging going on around here too, just nailed bits of wood left on trails. However I cant help but wonder how long before they start using fishing line more often.
Fingers crossed it doesnt get to this level:
