Did anyone else see it? The two officers who went beyond the call of duty to help Bill get to Holland deserve special praise. The fact that he died in Holland just goes to show how the officers actions positively impacted upon his final few weeks!

And also shows why it might not make the best business sense to hire a car to a 91 year old travelling to the continent.

I saw most of that piece about Bill. First thing I thought was I'll bet the car hire company were mightily hacked off about having to recover their Astra from Holland!

Also though I didn't see what caused the original bump, his standard of driving in the hire car seemed to leave a lot to be desired. Then he was going to drive it on the right, compounding his difficulites. I did wonder if his 'death surrounded by friends' meant he was involved in a massive smash whilst carrying passengers.

Possibly agest, I accept.

Yeah I saw that. I thought it was irresponsible to let him rmdrive to be honest.

I really appreciate having his freedom but really that frail and 91 is an accident waiting to happen.

It made me really sad when it said the news at the end. I just wish he been able to travel another way.

lovely story, and proves the driving licence is so out of date as a means of testing peoples ability to drive.

But top marks to the hire company, and some good publiicity for them.

That sort of thing never normally bothers me, but I had a lump in my throat when they just casualy voiced over that he had died at the end.

To be honest, whos to say we didnt have the whole story.

Makes you wonder if he had terminal cancer etc, had told the cops, and IMO quite right IMO they did all they could to help the old guy. Not living family in the UK, beats dieing in your house all alone..

My parents had a neighbour who, by now, would have been a year or two older than that (unfortunately he passed away last year).

He had a driving license but had never had any lessons or a test. He was in the army after WW2 and was told to drive a truck somewhere. He replied that he couldn't drive, so the person telling him to took out a license, wrote his name on it and said "you can now". And it was kept without question for the next 70 years!

I saw it and thought if the hire company had seen the film first there is no way he would have got the car.

I wonder if he got to do his jump?

yeah, saw it, good old fella.

More concerned about the amount of scum who break every driving law going, steal cars, have drugs and stuff on board and end up with a 12 month ban and no other action....bizarre. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ
