Hi guys I’m just about to buy a new frame that is a Gxp bb92 bottom bracket. I’m quite sure that bb92 takes a standard Shimano ht2 crank at 24mm but can someone please affirm this as I really don’t want to have to buy new cranks for the frame as mine are new already. Thanks.
GXP is 22mm on the non drive-side.
I thought that but the frame I’m looking at just says it came built with gxp bb92 but if I fit a standard non gxp bb92 I think that is 24mm.
If the frame comes fitted with a gxp bb then just bash it out and fit a shimano one.
Yes thanks it actually comes with no bb as it’s an ex demo never built up. It’s a pressfit obviously so I’m guessing I could fit a pressfit Shimano bb as you say, I presume one of those will work in the bb shell width with my ht2 cranks? These standards are so effing confusing ! It looks like I’ve found a Saint 92mm pressfit bb which should work thanks.
I have a BB92 Trek (remedy 29) which has a totally normal HT2 24mm crank (ancient XTR) and shimano BB in it, works well.
The majority of Bb92 tends to take shimano 24mm spindles, and there are loads of good options, praxis and hope are pretty solid. you can get an adaptor that reduces the non drive side down to 22mm for sram GPX spindles, I’ve used a hope one before and they do the job but it was a bit creaky if not kept clean and greased. Raceface also make a bb92 that takes a 30mm spindle, but the bearings don’t last as long as some others.
