[#6760158]

I am going to be living on a volcanic island in the mid-Altantic for 2 weeks every other month with work for the foreseeable. Colleagues have taken MTBs out and report there are good trails. I want to build up a value for money HT to take and leave out there but that I can maintain as clearly there is no LBS.

I have always failed at HYD brake maintainence - I'm happy spanner ing everything else on a bike. So I wondered... Having always had SLX or better on my MTBs - how much will I die if I put BB7 (or something else?) on this bike.

It's quite dry where I'll be going! Will it be very different to what I'm used to?

BB7s are brilliant. I used them for years then, for want of chnage for the sake of it, put some XT hydros on. I probably shouldn't have bothered.

BB7s are fine, easy to adjust and strip down. The hardest thing I find with them is changing pads. You'll need a torx key to adjust the inner pads.

used bb7 for over 10 years on mtb and tourer. never had a problem.
pads are easy to swap, also 3 points of adjustment when out riding..win from me.
