I'm after a chain device for my 1x9 setup. Upper guides don't keep the chain on well enough so I'm after a lower one. Anyone know of a good bb mount lower guide/roller?

Blackspire stinger?

On my 1x9 the chain always dropped from the top. I fitted an e13 XCX and it's fine without a lower guide. If you're really hammering it and drop the chain a lot perhaps it's worth fitting an e13 LG1.

Stinger is for dual ring isn't it?

Looks like I may have to go for an upper and lower guide.

If the upper guide alone isn't working for you then a lower only one will be even worse. Most lower only guides are intended for use on dual ring set ups so while the Stinger works quite well in that capacity, it's going to fail miserably with a 1 by X set up.

I'm assuming he means switching from just an upper guide, to something like the ethirteen LG1, which has both an upper and lower guide for a single chainring. The stinger isn't a suitable fix, because it's designed for a dual ring setup, so it won't be that effective.

LG1+ would be my choice, it has a little adapter plate which goes onto the BB, and then the guide bolts onto it. It seems to work pretty well according to the people I know who have one.

If the chain comes off the bottom and you have a top guide, just pedal and it goes back on, never had a problem doing that with mine
