I haven't been into biking for a while so I have a question about bb fitting front mechs.
I understand the plate is held in place by the bb cup on the crank side of the frame but, does the front mech plate also need bolting to the frame?

Thanks.

Mart.

Yes. On a bike which uses one there should be a special stub to attach the mech to, which stops it rotating around the BB.

My Scott has a little bracket on the frame that the mech bolts on to. It is a pain in the arse to set up though as the adjustment bolts and screws are always obscured by bits of the frame/swingarm

Ok thanks, I expected that to be the answer. I bought an xtr m970 (i think) front mech but it won't fit the giant xtc composite frame I have. That's why I wondered about the bb fitting type.

Will have to find the right front mech now haha.

Mart.
