Anyone else entered this year's BOTB?

I won a free entry at last year's SSUK, so will have to do it on a singlespeed 😁ย

It'll be my first time, looks like a fun event - if the weather's nice!

It's such a great event.ย  You are doing the exact same race as world class talent and yet everyone is fun, friendly and supportive, even to the no-hopers like me.

Just pray there isn't a headwind on the beach!

@ajantom Was that the prize for eating a pack of jaffa cakes? Or legging it to the corner of the field and back?

Good effort, that. My legs were in no shape to run that far after the race!

๐Ÿ˜† my main issue was the amount of tequila I'd drunk - but maybe that numbed the sore legs from the race!

Only a couple of days to go, and the weather's perked right up. Which is nice 😁

I've settled on my SS gearing, and due to the rain in Jan/Feb and a couple of nasty colds I'm woefully under trained....So I'll be somewhere near the back I expect!

Did the Battle in the Dark earlier - got really chilly waiting around and a bit wheezy - my old lungs didn't like it!

But I was chuffed to get 98th (out of about 350) which means I get a seeded place at the start tomorrow 😳

Looks like I'll actually have to race!

Good luck with the puddles. I was there a short while ago. We sounded like paddle steamers as we sploshed our way through.ย

Well that was hard work 😆

Crazy pace on the first beach section, I topped 40kmh on a 34x18 gearing - God knows what my rpm was!

Hit 186bpm and my heart rate averaged 165bpm for the whole race.

Definitely needed a higher gear as I got overtaken by a load of riders.

However, in the dunes the 29+ tyres were spot on, was able to ride most of the really sandy sections and the sandy single-track was lovely.

Ended up 4th singlespeed, so no podium 😁 but it was a great race, will definitely be back.

Good effort dude!

I feel I did SSUK proud ๐Ÿ˜‰ย

Considering how little riding I've done this year I was very pleased with the result.

@ajantom - top effort, glad making you run across the field was worth it 😆ย

Was hoping to be there this year, but work calendars conspired against it. Maybe next year.

A sub gathering of Singlespeeder's would be good. Though it's hard enough trying to get them to gather once a year, let alone twice!
