Evening

Staying near Penrith with friends this weekend and want to do something I haven't ridden before.

Ideally 'au naturel' as done TNF and Whinlatter. Also done Helvellyn, Place Fell, Langdale, tour around Skiddaw before. Fancy Skiddaw itself but the redsocks will be out in force - so wondered what you bods that have done it think of the Borrowdale Bash. Looks interesting but a fair bit of roadwork....worth doing or look elsewhere?

Don't want to take the piss by being out biking all day and not seeing the people we are staying with, so wants to be 4-5 hours max really. Oh and any alternative suggestions would preferably be Northern Lakes too - don't want much do I? ๐Ÿ˜†

Go for Borrowdale Rascal - with your drive to and from Penrith, that'll probably work out about three, maybe three and a half hours. If you wanted to add on an extra hour, you could pop up Honister, back of Fleetwith, descent down to Warnscale, back up the pass, then carry on with the 'traditional' bash route. You could also add in the zig-zags from Hause Gate to Manesty if you fancied a quick hike with a mad descent.
