[#12514114]

Hello all planning on heading over to Barry sidings from Dorset next week , was just wondering if there is anywhere close by ( lay-by etc ) that would be suitable to pull up in a van and Kip over?
Thanks in advance
Cheers Graeme
Oh and how easy is it to navigate the trails?
Cheers

Can't comment on the camping side sorry but most of the trails are easy enough to navigate. Most of the main ones end up on the same fire road so it's a short pedal back up again. You can park in Barry Sidings Countryside Park for free, just go past the pump track on the left and take the fire road up. Most of the trails are on Strava/Trailforks but not all but you'll see a lot of the exits on the way up. Lots of steep technical descents, a few with jumps but you can go around. It's basically a case of just picking a line and going for it - there's a lot to choose from and you'll find most trails end up forking left and right a few times on the way down. Have fun!

I wouldn't be camping in the van anywhere near there overnight, far too much risk. I'd find somewhere in the Beacons and have a sub 1hr drive to get there in the morning, much more pleasant and stress-free.

I live on the doorstep of Barry sidings.
You could stay in the carpark, some do.
Just up the road is a hotel & restaurant called The Heritage park, if you was having a drink there I’m sure nobody would mind your vehicle being there overnight.
There isn’t any great local spots to camp, the best official camp site is 30 min drive to dare valley country park, which has a family bike park on site.
There will be locals around who will point you in the right direction and the boys in the shop at the bottom will be able to explain the trails, all the trails are running great at the moment after a bit of rain.
If I’m around I’ll show you about.

It doesn’t, but if it, did follow the road down to a dead end & park by the cricket club.
