Wondering if I can extend my carbon bars by a slight amount without incurring death and disfigurement?

What I did - Buy a pair of cheap alloy bars in the width you'd like. Once happy flog them and the original carbon's and buy a new pair of right-width carbon bars.

I wouldn't fancy using them on carbon given that they attach with a grub screw.
BR's option is more sensible.

Can't you just wait until you need new bars?
I can't imagine how we managed before the latest fad for very wide bars, we must have been right mincers 😉
