[#2350941]

Thinking of gearing up my drop-barred Cotic Roadrat as a 1 x 9.

Not sure whether I'm going to keep the drops but if I do, I'm wondering about the compatibility of bar end shifters with an MTB rear mech (probably Deore as I have one knocking around somewhere). Anyone done something similar? Recommendations for cheap shifters welcome.

Was looking at using an n-gear jump stop for the chainring - is this the best solution to keeping the chain on the straight and narrow?

Surly LHTs come as stock with bar-end shifters and XT rear mechs.

It uses Shimano bar-ends - can't recall the model number

Yup, Deore and barcons on my tourers/tandems. 7/8 and now 9 speed. Shitmano Ultegra and Dura Ace shifters and Deore mechs.

I put some dura ace 9 speed bar end shifters on a roadrat just today, xt rear mech. Worked fine as far as I dare go in this afternoon's icerink roads.

Only problem I had was the (2m) gear cable was about 6 inches too short. Soldered two together for now and ordered some tandom cables offa ebay.
