Anybody got any pros and cons for the balloonbed? The price seems right as do the size and weight......what are the cons, if any?

Do folk use a groundsheet for puncture protection?

Its this or the Alpkit numo for twice the price (price not deterring me from alpkit numo but Id rather have £20 pound in my pocket if both beds do the same job)

Thanks

Having to blow up and tie off those balloons looks like a right faff to me!

The Numo looks quite a lot better for ease of use. I'd probably still go for a lightweight foam-filled mat though, so at least you still had some cush if there was a leak.

The balloons burst IME if you sit on them. How many spares do you get? They seem OK for comfort if 'evenly loaded' i.e. flat on back.
I'd go for the other option.

I've got one, used it for a few years in mountain marathons and general bivi-ing. The balloons are a bit of a faff, but you can't beat the pack size and weight. I always carried a few spares but bursting them on inflation was rare, quite often a few of them gone in the morning but it was generally very comfortable. I did have trouble inflating them once while biviing on top of Snowdon, after that I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade.

I use a therma rest neo these days, expensive, but it's comfy and packs down small.

The numo looks like a nice piece of kit, 20 quid extra doesn't sound like a lot to me.
