Post up your folks - lets have a s****

So I have been digging around in the cupboards scanning in old photos. a couple from a mtb tour back in the early 90s. Julie had a specialised hardrock and me an emmelle. 1,9 tyres and rigid with cantis

We rode down to the borders from Edinburgh and along the southernupland way past innerleithan to Berwick and got the train home. Seems a long time ago now

Hopefully someday I'll get around to scanning all my pre-digi MTB & bike touring photos from the 80's & 90's.

In the meantime here's one from 1999 of me & my rigid Condor Diablo somewhere above La Canada Flintridge in sunny Southern California...

Can you tell that this was taken before I started drinking beer "properly"?

I think this was 1994 up near the Tanhill pub, north Dales, although could be just about anywhere in the Dales TBH.

TJ - the bike pics are fabulous and really capture the 'back in the day' feeling. Loadsa smiles here.

Do you remember what the bikes were?

I'm guessing the mcmoonter will be along with his fine collection in a bit

Mine was an emmelle. I could have sworn Julie was riding her hardrock but it looks to be the wrong colour

Apparently 'that was the look' in motocross circles!! What do you expect, I was an 18 year old in the 80's. 🙂

For mx bods, the hat was signed by Rick Johnson, Rob Herring and Jamie Dobb.

We used to do lots of climbing/mtb trips, mtb for the wet days. My weapon of choice was a GT Timberline.
This is Scotland somewhere around Aviemore 1994/95(not quite sure what I was prating about at) and up Liathach on the same trip (me on right).

Back in the day for me is late 90s as I only started MTBing in 1997, so here's one from 1999 (I think) of me and my friend Russ:

MOD: Image removed due to malware

This is on the Iron Lemmings (Black Mountains \ Brecon Beacons) and this bit as you can see is a bike carry, and if I remember correctly a 1000ft vertical climb... some points to note:

- I have no hair
- We wore lycra (still have those mt500s)
- My bike is a Marin Wolfridge
- some chaps kept their helmets on 😯

Yeah, I remember it being delivered (we were students - it was my housemate's) - Royal Mail just left a £500 frame in the entrance hall 😯 No signature, nothing. Good bike at the time (it was the 856 with ODS - oil damping!) and the GLS - Ground Linking System raised some mirth as its owner did indeed never get his wheels off the ground 🙂

That Ritchey jersey's still in use - spotted it on fb the other day where my mate's still riding in it over in NZ where he lives now.

The buffalo jacket was rubbish - at least, for me - it was just way too warm. I used it about twice in really cold/snowy conditions. I think it's still buried somewhere at my parents' place.
