Hey Folks

I'm wondering if anyone has come across a similar issue before.

Basically the disc mounts on my RC305 frame are really badly aligned, The rear brake has rubbed badly since new but I gave up trying to bodge the brake and took it to the LBS to try and get them to face the mounts.

According to the LBS the mounts are miles out and facing them might result in removing so much material fro the top mount in particular that its not safe to ride

Here is some pics that explain it better

The mounts should be the same distance from the rotor? They are about 3-4mm out

Final picture shows the facing tool. Gap between the face of the tool and the bottom mount is the amount of material that need to be removed from the top mount to make it square. I'm worried this would leave me with a top mount that is liable to snapping.

I've contacted Pace to see if they can advise a solution too.

Cheers

Rich

It's Pace's problem, will be interesting to see their response.

Can you use washers on the tab that's furthest away in the meantime?

If I try that the gap betwen the tabs and the rotor is too tight to get a caliper or post mount adaptor in there. So far i've been running a hope post mount adaptor with a bit of material shaved off the top mount of the adaptor to make it a bit more square but its still rubs pretty badly

From the look of that it's been built wrong - the whole dropout looks squint.

The ongoing saga on the MTB holidays from hell thread has reminded me of this.

Thank you to Adrian Carter at Pace for sorting out my frame FOC.

I had no idea if it was still under warranty and they didn't ask me to prove I was the original owner(I was) just said send the frame back and we'll take a look. After a couple of emails explaining what they would do it was sent back to me.

Good service all round.

How long to sort out? New frame or repaired the one up there? ^

Took about a week once they had it. Repaired the frame, machined back the bottom mount. I won't complain it was a very neat job.

Just thought i'd post an update as an example of decent service!
