Hi all,
How strict are BA with having just a bike in your bike box/bag? Do they open them up to check like Easyjet?
Could you get away with putting clothes/tools/pop-up tents inside?
From Edinburgh to Newark if it matters.
Ta,
Duane.
I put quite a bit of other stuff in on the way to the etape last year and BA didn't care.
On the flip side BA were by far the worst out of all the airlines at getting you bike onto the same flight as you!!! Mine was late gong out and coming back. Hardly any other airline did this to riders from discussions with various other folks out for the etape.....
I think so long as you are upto 23kgs, you should be fine packing the box out with other stuff.. I locked mine and was never asked to open it, our experience with BA to Geneva last time was great but we made sure we got to check in early to ensure the bikes arrived at the same time as us.
We got away with loads of stuff last year. The bikes were counted as normal bags as long as they were under 23kg so we booked one extra case between us (2 of us), turned up with 2 bike bags containing road bikes and cycling kit plus a case containing other clothes and had no issues whatsoever.
