AXS Transmission issues

Have an XX mech on my Levo. After some initial frustrations and watching set up videos, got it working sweet. Aligned the notches, tensioned in the set up cog, A/B switch thingy position correct

However, the bloody thing won't stay at the right angle of dangle.

Initially didn't have the right tools to torque, so guessed - I use a lot of tools and general have a pretty good feel. They are apparently very particular to correct torque though.

So, now, everything torqued as it should be, finish a ride and it's moved. Seems crazy that the rear axle holds it in place tbh, but that's how it is.

What am I doing wrong?

I had that issue when I first used my GX setup. Turned out that the little plate that sits against the frame had moved. If that’s not sitting properly tech will do as you describe.

I didn't tighten mine up enough. Wasn't at home didn't have a torque wrench. Then first ride back it was clobbered by a rock and slipped forward so slackening the chain. We couldn't get it tight enough with multi-tools. Just kept slipping. Now it's been probably reset and tightened as per spec and it's been rock solid.

I'm trying to visualise that plate @mashr is talking about- I guess mine has that I just can't remember it! Will have a look later and also check torque to see if it's still 36nm. Feels like a lot. Well until you're tightening the SRAM cranks!

That’s not an uncommon issue. I’ve seen it on quite a few bikes, usually you can tell it’s started to move because it gets more chain slappy before it really screws with the shifting.

I think it comes down to tolerance issues mainly. The 3 parts (frame, bushing & mech) all need to be spot on & I’ve definitely fitted it on one bike (Santa Cruz) where it felt a bit too easy to put together, guess what, it kept coming loose…

I saw a bodge job where someone an extra super thin plastic washer between the frame & the red bush to space it out, which I tried - it was a lot tighter to fit, but it was rock solid after & never moved again.

I assume the little plate is the silver metal one that the mech is meant to line against as part of the setup in this instance.

Have also seen a few stripped hanger bolts when people have torqued them up to spec, so be careful.
