there's some string on your decking
I like that. What do you think of the forks?
Kinda missing the point of the frame with that awful build ๐
Its not mine!!
ice tyres??
Stem is waaaaaaay to long..
Anything else ?
****in dreadful. horrible horrible thing. you actually even went to the effort of thinking where the logo on you tyres are in respect of your rims...and then this photo. what's wrong with you man?
You've ruined that Rob.
Stem is waaaaaaay to long..
Do you know the rider?
Just for clarification not my bike, mines green ๐ณ
Do you know the rider?
Yes.
But no. ๐
The frame is designed around a stem half that length with the slack head angle.
If however, he wants the bike to handle like a pig then fair do's to him.
Actually quite like the look of that. ๐ณ

aah, well, in that case, yes it's dreadful.
Lot going on there that's not too regular- spikes, rigid forks, long stem... where, and whose is it?
Have you done a review of yours yet, out of curiosity?
the rider has a cannondale, says everything really
i prefered your Giant Rob, and that was ugly
not mine rd and i don't have a cannondale either
Am i missing something obvious?
not afaik
its a shit mmmbop off the ragley site that RD and al think is funny to pretend its mine
vinneyh - now its got 150mm revs, 50 mm stem and spds on itsbob on and felt great on the 3 rides since wednesday ๐
If however, he wants the bike to handle like a pig then fair do's to him.
And here was me thinking they had the same head angle ๐ Do you honestly believe that 10-20mm on the stem is going to transform it into a barge? Surely it's more important that the position is comfortable, within reason of course.
I like it. Not tried mine with the rigids yet (29er Exotics so much like a 140mm sus fork) but I've nothing against it in principle. Stem does look long but hey, this isn't MBR, let's not assume we know how a bike rides by measuring one part.
People think rigid = tame XC but with those long rigids in my Soul's been down some fairly fun stuff so I reckon it could be pretty interesting in the mmmbop. Plus, it's got ice spikers on, rigid works really well in the snow.
now its got 150mm revs, 50 mm stem and spds on
so it is yours!

I ordered one of the mmmbop frames in the CRC sale, does anyone else's come up really short? Used to riding a 17.5" Cove Stiffee and and a 18.5 Trek EX8 full sus, my new 18" ragley frame feels like it is much shorter than either to the point of feeling like I am sat very much on top of it and banging my knees on the bars when i turn?
who gives a **** what it looks like ? It may well get ridden more than all the mincer bikes that get posted on here.
If its a winter build it sort of makes sense - Rigid fork + ice spiker tyres anyone? Although i would go single rather than gears in that case...
yesiamtom, you're missing the point - bikes are supposed to look good and be built to a formula (King, Hope, Maxxis, longest forks possible, colour coded etc.).
Actually riding them is a secondary coonsideration.
The frame is designed around a stem half that length with the slack head angle.
So Ragley assume everyone has arms the same length then ? surely you vary the stem length to suit you .I am 6ft 4 with very long arms ,my stems vary from 100 mm to 150 mm depending on the bike. The 150mm is on a 22inch mtb by the way so it is big enough.
150mm stem on a 22 inch frame. Are you sure you dont have your layback seatpost on the wrong way round? ๐ฏ
Best ask them then. I'd guess they don't build an mmmbop for you to be ridden in it optimised state.
If you ride a bike with a head angle of 70 odd deg's it will be ok with long stem. Most are designed around around a 100mm stem but this isn't. When i first built mine i had to, because i forgot to order the right stem, ride it with an 80mm stem. It felt almost as though the front tire was half flat when turning.
Still not saying you can't buy one and ride it. It just won't ride as it should. Simple ๐
I really like the look of that, especially the forks . . . but the fork decals are upside down.

You seem to be hung-up on doing exactly what the manufacturer says without considering that riders are all different shapes and sizes. The idea is that you buy the right frame size and make the small adjustments necessary to make the bike fit you. For instance I have relatively short legs/long body so may well have to go for 18" frame for legs but need the additional effective t/t length which a longer stem or layback seatpost will provide to achieve a good riding position for me. Stem length and head angle are only two considerations. What do you do about 'optimum' fork travel given that fork lengths vary considerably eg. my Nixon 145mm travel fork is actually 10mm shorter axle to crown than my 130mm AM1.
Bikes are designed around an optimal setting and I'm sure that that 100mm or so 'girder' on the front will not make it turn like it's got a flat tyre. In fact I would think it would be very nimble and a pleasure to handle as the head angle will remain constant, unlike a long travel fork.
Hung up? Na.
My last bike was a small charge duster with a long stem and a layback post. and i'm 5'11. I'm fully aware what you can and can't get away with. A 100mm stem on a bike with a 67 deg headangle is far from ideal just like a 5'11 bloke on a small charge duster is far from ideal. To many compromises. Get a bike that fits you.
Just for the record, i'm referring to a stem that appears to be 100 - 120 mm when it should be 50mm. Thats not a small change ๐
An absolutely perfect build for it's intended use, The Iditarod Bike Race in Alaska.

I currently run a medium Kona Stuff with P2's, 120mm stem, moustache bars, 2.4 DMR Moto's on 39:14 fixed. Meets both the above criteria as a pub/shopping/town bike with the added bonus of knowing that no-one in their right mind would nick it ๐

Nope. I went for a small and the wheelbase is almost identical to my medium Hemlock, effective TT tube is more or less the same too. Usually I'd take a medium but glad I didn't for this one.
