Hiya,
I'm up in Aviemore this weekend, and I'm taking a bike. They'll be a couple of days riding hopefully.
Definitely going to head to Laggan for a day for the trail centre and brown.
What about the other day? Ideally want something within an hour or so of Aviemore. Big hills presumably out due to snow at the moment. Normally riding is Tweed Valley tech, so something similar would be nice.
Any recommendations? And what sort of condition are trails in? Got a Shorty on the front currently, was thinking I might stick a Minion on for Laggan.

Whats the Anagach Woods place at Granton on Spey like? Just a little skills area or worth a drive?
Same goes for the Pitlochry trails, look to be about an hour away. Any good?
there's also some rowdy singletrack in the Badaguish Forest you could do Lairig Gru and then peddle over to Badaguish... bu really calling Scotroutes or if you swing by Bothy Bikes they have a trail map as well
Some good stuff in Inshriach as well, often less busy

It's just a little skills area. The rest of the woods are lovely for an xc bimble but not what I'd call tech.

Trails have been pretty dry for a while but we've had some recent rain and the weather is looking wet and wild for the next couple of days.
Little snow higher up but we'll get some in this next front. I expect it to be soft and slushy - i.e. not the good snow. Shame really as Meall a Bhuachaille and the the Badaguish XC track might have suited you.
Assuming you want to stay lower then, High Burnside would keep you occupied for a couple of hours or more (Bothy were up there last week (IIRC) so will have some up-to-date info). From there you can also head further NE along the High Burnside routes to get to the top of Carn Lethendry, then take the Goat Track down to Carrbridge. Back through Carr Woods for a non-techy return. Just before Boat of Garten you'll find various nice bits of singletrack in the woods. Then return along the SSW to Aviemore.
The track at the bottom of the Lairig Ghru is always worth a go. I'd head up from Coylumbridge, avoiding the Rothiemurchus Lodge option as the traverse from the lodge to the LG will be clarty.

I'm heading up Aviemore later this week and will have around 4 to 5 hours (no car). Last time I spent a few hours at High Burnside using trailforks and I was thinking of doing the same again, although I was also looking at alternatives - is this the route around Lairig Ghru you mentioned? It's in this months MBR...

I also have the Bothy Bikes maps which include a route near Inshriach, I don't know how good/techy that particular route is and I'd rather stick to a map/gpx so I dont get lost!
Just a quick one to say thanks again for the advice. Went to Laggan Friday which was a bit wet and cold, but fun. Then High Burnside Saturday, which I absolutely loved. The trails there are brilliant - will be back.
