trying to recycle as much existing kit for a new build - I have the road version of BB7s plus some Avid SD Sl v levers.
I know in theory it's not a compatible combination but before puttihg together trying to work out what braking will be like.
I'm not an engineer - so my understanding is that the discs are designed to work with much less cable pull than the levers offer - doesn't that just mean that the brakes will be full on at a much earlier point in lever travel than if the same levers were used with the MTB version of the discs - and is that necessarily a bad thing(and why)?
Ta
leverage is higher so you won't be able to brake as hard or mudulate as well, but it should still work, dunno how well.
see if you can scrounge some canti brake levers. They'll work just fine with them. (same pull as road levers)
Good idea. May have something old school going spare myself. email in profile.
I did the same with mine, and actually I prefered it to some old mtb BB7s I had. It's difficult to say if you'll get on with it, but I found that it engaged quicker and after a couple of days I adapted to the modulation of them anyway.
