[#2922098]

Just got some Avid Elixir Rs.
Please can anyone advise on whether its best to get the Avid pads or are OEM pads any good (if so, which ones)?
Also, what's the difference between "organic" and "metal organic"?

I've used Clarkes pad with Avid brakes and they were fine.

Superstar Kevlar pads here - no problems.

Never heard of 'metal organic' though. Organic is a bit like 'resin' or something like that - great stopping power and heat dissipation but not great at lasting in the wet. Sintered are great for the wet or gritty rides. Kevlar are somewhere between to two, as are Fibrax's 'semi-metalic plus' range

I'd strongly recommend these:

I've been running these in my Elixers. The stopping power is fantastic, but I'm amazed at how little they wear. They've been in ages and there's still bags of meat left on the pads

Superstar sintered do me fine, don't last as long as the Goodridge ones I used to use, but they're a lot cheaperer.
