Are the specific to Avid brakes?
Was swapping some forks at the weekend, for a m8, and it looks like some-one had bodged on a std adapter, then I had a nightmare trying to get it to work on the 2nd bike (more avid brakes) - did it in the end but not using 'swivel' washer that come with the brakes..
Might be why he complained previously of pulsing, or is that another issue?

I'm about 80% certain the caliper make allowances for the cup and cone washers rather than the adaptor. I've used Avid adaoptors with Tektro calipers before without issue.

I've had a few problems using non Avid adaptors, if you're using Juicys some adaptors can foul the pads.
