Looking for some new hose for my Avid Code5s. My usual supplier is pushing goodridge braided hoses as a "recognised upgrade".
1)Avid says it voids the warranty (not much warranty time left TBH)
2)Avid says it messes up the modulation and can cause damage
3)Posts in interweb saying "my mate fitted braided to his avids and then they exploded" (or maybe just the seals burst).
Any personal good/bad experiences on Avid+braids?
Ta in advance STW hive.
sram talk shit... its just a ****ing hose
I ran goodridge hoses on juicys and codes - and I survived!
Do it - probably cheaper than avid hoses!
Andy
Are they more expensive than the standard hoses?
In my opinion they make no difference to anything and should not be considered if they're any more expensive than the standard hoses.

Did you buy a fitting kit or just alter the nuts and olives?
got some free hose and was going to faff about with it at the weekend.
I have some spare bits to mess about with.
I put them on the wife's juicy 5s. Only because I had the hose and most of the fittings. Worked out much cheaper than avid hose. Feels a bit firmer but that could also be the fresh bleed. Either way, can't see any reason not to do it.
First set I had was a complete set (with end fittings) but after some playing around you can fit normal avid barbs and olives (you need to remove some of the plastic outer to slide the compression nut and olive on)
Make sure you make a nice clean cut as trying to get the olive over a frayed braid end is a royal PITA!
I've got rid of all my avids since-I've got some end fittings for codes and juicies you can have for postage costs?!

Not only do Sram talk shit......they also make shit brakes...which even their Sram Tech Dept cannot rescue
Don't bother...get some other make of brakes
Anyway..........Braided hoses.....................WHY?
Anyway..........Braided hoses.....................WHY?
Cause I like the look of them and they were free.
Don't have the Avid hate ,never had a problem with them.
@Andy ..Thanks for the offer ,But I have spare bits to work with.
Cool, no worries.
Good luck with it - it's a bit of a fiddle but I felt it a worthwhile one!
Any questions just drop me an e-mail (in profile)
Cheers!
Andy
