Want to take Mrs Madjak for a weekend trip to Cornwall, somewhere in the countryside, quiet cottage, log burner sort of thing.

Anyone have any experiences or advice?

Was going to do a bit of walking but don't think the bikes are coming...

We have stayed here http://www.cornishcottageholidays.co.uk/falmouth-cottages/falmouth/oak/ well presented but a bit of a backward location, also no log fire.

Also Porthtowan one year but that property isn't let any more, nice relaxed place we would have gone back.

Looks nice, few places on there as well.

Anyone else been to Cornwall?

I'd head for the north coast, better walking imho and generally just better looking. Not to say there aren't lovely places on the south coast... Kynance Cove being a favourite.

Perrenporth is good. Access to nice walks and good pubs for the evening.

I'd look at visiting the West Pentire area to the north and you have St Ives for culture to the south.

We stayed here for a winter break a couple of years ago and thought it was perfect. Walking straight from the door as far as Newquay in one direction and Padstow in the other. A bus stopped nearby so that gave another exploring option. We took bikes and explored the lanes too.
It's on National Trust land so beautiful bit of coastline too.

We stayed here a couple of times, remote, seems to tick all the boxes, but you may struggle with staying for a weekend.
