BMW driven by arsehole shocker.

Trying to run someone off the road and I bet all it will be is a £50 fine.

Longsight in Manchester - says it all. I used to ride through there occasionally, I found a different route after having bottles thrown at me by bloody schoolkids. The roads are shite, badly surfaced, badly designed, the traffic is horrendous.

Nasty nasty area. I suggest nuking it from orbit.

Absolutely no idea what is going on from that video, suprised the police would take that further, was there actually an attack other than a few words spoken (which you can't understand)?

Very calm of the cyclist, when he got out and ran towards me I would have swung for him.

I've been attacked numerous times in good old Manchester, now I only stick to the back streets, it's quicker and safer, and the roads tend to be better surfaced. Saying that, a daft woman tried to shunt me on a back street in leafy Didsbury not long ago, so it's not just the lower classes who do it.

I've also been racially abused by a taxi driver after he tried to knock me off driving through Rusholme.

Good times!

Aha! So that's what you're supposed to do with it. I've been wondering about that for a while now...

Attempting to ram someone off the road then it looks like he grabs the guy round the neck. Either of which should not be considered nothing.

Agree totally with that. The way he was approaching, the cyclist would have been entirely justified in using 'appropriate self-defence', not so easy unfortunately if he was still on his bike.

Hmm - I'll stick to the back country roads of Devon - I can count on one hand verbal (two way) altercations I have had with drivers (apart from a few short words as they cut you up) - remind me not cycle in Manchester!

Ah the keyboard warriors. Bdeing run off the road like that you can't move. Have a look at that video, the cyclist is right up against the fence on his left, car on his right. I've been run off the road like that by a truck in Whaley Bridge, the guy timed it so I couldn't have got off my bike even if I'd have wanted to, proper squashed with no escape route. In those circumstances, the last thing you do is escalate it.

Besides, it's Longsight. Get off your bike for half a second and it'll be gone from underneath you. Either that or a whole bunch of thugs will suddenly appear to join in the fun.

Ah the keyboard warriors

Ah the keyboard know-it-alls.

Look at the video again - that's who we're slagging off, not each other. Seems to be forgotten on STW that.

Brilliant scare-mongering, 10/10.

Noooo!

I'd pretty much abandoned BikeRadar cos I got sick of all the pointless 'cyclist hit', 'knocked off my bike', 'crashed' etc type threads. Ended up a bit like reading the Daily Mail - every article designed to inflame and anger.

Fine if you want to get yourself all worked up and indignant with outrage I guess...

Whats just as worrying for me is the fact that all these cars are trying to get round the car, totally ignoring the fact the cyclist is about to be throttled. Cowards!

Little fat ****t with little fat man syndrome....I take my hat off to the cyclist for not fighting fire with fire but if he had tried to run me off the road I would have seen it as attempting to scare/hurt/kill me and got revenge anyhow possible using more violence than the driver did, red rag I'm afraid (and would have probably regretted it later). Thank god for my quiet daily commute on mainly country lanes (which can still be 'eventful' at times)

Good to see a story like this and the police being supportive (from bbc article) a lot more coverage like this and hot headed drivers might start to see it's not ok and it's not alright to let the red mist descend.

Not that i'm advocating it, but did anyone else notice the fat f _ _ k left his keys in the ignition and the engine on?

- i'm thinking BMW worth a few quid, bike probably worth less, looks like the driver could do with a bike ride or 2 and i woudln't mind a nice shiney BMW.....

he didn't seem to do much though, gets out the car, waddles round, grabs cyclists collar or throat, mutters a few half meant words and that's it he waddles back to his car. Cyclist says 'you nearly went into me' and then from the other side of the car waddly pork bloke says 'I'll knock your head off' - well not from over there he won't will he! What an idiot.

I don't think road rage incidents are unique to Manchester.

I'm starting to think that STW has it's own unique strain of pillock though.

my (big) brother got a good one over a car driver who had jumped out to threaten a cyclist (not him) after steering into him - he leaned in through the open window, took the keys out and threw them a long way into the hedges (without the driver seeing), then went to aid the cyclist and told the driver to .... off - which of course he couldn't 😀

How easy is it to rip a car door off, I mean, if you were to yank it open really hard, would you be able to snap it off using it's own momentum?

I've ALWAYS thought that, Terrahawk.

To be honest, I see some truly awful behaviour from cyclists on a daily basis too and have realised that I'm not surprised at anything I see on the roads any more.

When the car stops, there's always the classic "open the boot of the car" then ride off.

No.

I know this as me and a mate tried to do it to an old Ford Cortina...

U-lock through the passenger window, but then that can be seen as criminal damage.

At least he got the guy on video, hard to argue that one away, and it's on a national news site which wont help his case. Looks like the kind of twonk that's pissed off a few people in his time so I'm sure someone will shop him.

I will never understand the hierarchy that people get when out on the roads.

can't quite understand why the rider didn't get the reg plate on film as well?

as least the police appear to be taking it serious enough and are classing it as assault

lets hope he did get the reg, but that it's on film after the end of the clip.

being run off the road is very scary - respect to the cyclist for being so calm, it's hard to remain so with all the adrenalin you get.

my (big) brother got a good one over a car driver who had jumped out to threaten a cyclist (not him) after steering into him - he leaned in through the open window, took the keys out and threw them a long way into the hedges (without the driver seeing), then went to aid the cyclist and told the driver to .... off - which of course he couldn't

Thank you. That story made my day!

After the last couple of weeks I've had, I'm praying for that to happen to me....pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaase...make my day 👿

Immature= 'tick'
Childish= 'tick'
Cost me time inside and my job = 'tick'

Worth it = no, but oh the perverse gratification of grinding his face along the street....PROFANITY-DESCRIPTIVE-NOUN.
