I've a frame I'm going to bring up to date (moving gear and brake cable stops) and have re-finished.
Was looking in the manchester area (as it's my original neck of the woods) and these 2 names have come up in my searches.
Anyone have any dealings with either?
Will's wheels has a vague mention of restoration on his website but I can't google any reviews/comments.
Atlantic Boulevard has some ace reviews but nothing I can find too recently.
Or anyone else that you can recommend?
bump, in the manchester area...
To be honest, I'd just post the frame off to Argos Cycles: http://www.argoscycles.com/
That's what most bike shops do anyway (if not Argos then Bob Jackson, Terry Dolan etc). Proper restoration work and resprays is beyond what most shops can do as it's very specialist, you need welding kit, proper paint booths etc.
I've used Argos a couple of times, they've done a respray on my MTB and they did a brilliant seatstay replacement and respray on a damaged steel road frame I had - could only tell it wasn't original on very close inspection of the welds.
looked at them and mercian and i think mercian win, argos have a rep for fragile paint for the cost.
i live abroad as well so close to home is important too as a relative can double check.
cromaworks looks good but paint jobs only.
