I’m trying to fix up my Longitude for a low-budget, lengthy, towpath, back-lanes mini-tour, say 300 miles-ish round trip
Just bought some old (2003?) Karrimor Kalahari pannier-bags which have handy cliplocks on the top hooks (tried them last night, really secure and work well atm) but bags still swing away from the rear-rack on rougher trails or when climbing, so pretty much a regular aggro and slapping noise of the kickplate against the rack. The bags originally would have been supplied with (proprietary?) ‘disc-lock’ fittings that slotted into a kick-plate ie

These weren’t included with my panniers so I slipped a short velcro strap with plastic buckle in there and it sort of works but given the narrow diameter of the (Alpkit Love Mud) rear rack it’s difficult to fix tightly
Any alternative ideas/solutions gratefully received 👍🏼
Can you cable tie a molle hydration clip to the kick plate?

All it has to do is clip over and retain the pannier. Not bear any weight.
Bungie cords or ROK Straps over the pannier. Former are cheaper, latter probably safer. I had a set of those disk lock panniers and they weren't particularly secure.
I also zip tie. Does the job.
some great suggestions thanja!
Being a fettler I like the hydration clip idea might try something like that. Also plan to do grocery shop with these so easy off-on preferable
You can buy the Ortblieb lower hooks on their own. Maybe could screw those on somehow.

Karrimor spares:
Day packs available for Karrimor Global 70-90 in black and navy - these only fit sacks made after 2000.
Spare buckles available for most Karrimor packs.
We also sell pannier hooks and disc locks.

Thanks for the link boblo, could be great if they are still stocked.
montgomery thnks for response, may I ask what was not so good about them in use?
They just had a tendency to pop off the rack on rough ground. I ended up strapping them down with a bungie cord. Also, the fabric pulled away from the hook strip along the top - I had to sew it together with fishing line. One got stolen, I eventually binned the other and went back to the smaller Macpac panniers that preceded them.
^ Thanks for that, looks like simple bungee options will be best. Shame, as they look sturdy panniers. Luckily got the four from FB marketplace for grand total of £25 so if they last a year I’ll be happy.
