I was beginning to lose faith (after about 20seconds) but it's worth it for the faceplant

What a pointy chap the cameraman is. Still, if it brightens up his day. When he started on hoodies, postmen and people on mobiles on cycle paths, you knew he was running out of material. The jacket-off faceplanter was quite funny though.

Yeah, like the faceplant - you could see it coming the second he flicked his garment near the wheel.

Don't get what's wrong with the guy riding with his hands on the saddle, though. A calculated risk...?

OOOOF!

That face plant was harsh but TBH, quite deserved really, who actually does that sort of thing riding around town?

Faceplant is at 2:38 and it's brilliant. ๐Ÿ˜† Rest of it is a yawnfest

Aside from a small number of people turning right at red lights, the only asshat appears to be the guy filming.

It's lucky car drivers aren't like cyclists - if people started posting videos of them getting irate every time they saw another driver committing some minor misdemeanor they'd fill up the internet.

He needs to have a look at his following distance. Didn't see the face plant coming and pure luck he didn't join the club. No lifesavers to be seen. Poor rear observation whilst stationary and prior to pulling off from junctions. Cycling at people coming down one ways not too clever either.
Fave plant was funny though.

Come on! Riding with a shopping bag and on the mobile? Skillz! And if the guy had managed to get his jacket off cleanly I'd have been impressed ๐Ÿ™‚

the plum at 2:30 going up the inside of a left indicating Saab(?) was a quite asshat-ish

Lots of rlj and pavement riding too which plenty consider to be asshat-y whether they were endangering anyone or not.

Trying to avoid the usual "violence is stupid" response but...

The first finger pointing bit boiled my piss watching it. Having flashbacks...

Shouting and pointing at a well shiny lady is no way to behave, leave that to the police.

Worst use of slow motion since Life Cycles. Excellent crash though.

I hate it when busybodies tell me not to cycle the wrong way on one way streets.

I live on a one-way street and thus it is my god-given right to ride the wrong way up it. I am yet to meet pointy finger man, but when I do, I'll salute him in the appropriate manner ๐Ÿ˜€

Although I don't live in York. I wonder if he brings his camera on holiday?

Dear God I think the Faceplant was less painful than watching the rest of that video. Who ever created that hasn't realised there's porn on the internet if they spend their time compelling videos like that.

The guy who filmed it comes across as a sanctimonious knob jockey.

The face plant was funny though...that had to tang a bit.

Lots of yawn, but a proper spanker in the end. I can confirm how much that hurts as i had a similarly* instant OTB incident in January and smashed myself to pieces (broken arm/wrist++)

*i only took hands off the bars to sit up/stretch.

so as long as you aren't turning right, riding through a red light is acceptable?

cool, all those straight on and left turn red lights i use on tomorrows commute are fair game!

I don't get the idea of filming your commute. If you're doing it to capture bad cycling, then get a life. If you're doing it to record cars that endanger you, change you commute if you're so concerned at getting hit.

2 way for bikes on 1 way streets is pretty normal and legal in plenty of places - UK is the one that's slacking.

Is the postie delivering letters really sposed to go in the road and keep pulling off the road at every house?

nothing majorly wrong with most of those pavement cyclists going wrong way. I do it to get to my house. I could (legally) go the wrong way up the 1 way street then cut across the road between parked cars. easier to ride slowly on the pavement.

asshats on bikes, including the one with the camera, imho. specially when calling out to others. not quite as bad as the cycling bloke that goes out of his way to seemingly get in to trouble and shout out car reg. plates. if he's not dead yet, then I'm sure he'll kill himself due to too much stress.

Self righteous arse trumpet

He should pay attention to what he's doing, not every other bugger

I'll bend his finger the wrong way ๐Ÿ˜‰

When is it legal to go the wrong way up a one way street (genuine question)?

I'd say so long as you're riding safely and considerately, it's acceptable. Put it this way, I wouldn't point my finger and scold a pedestrian if they chose to cross before the green man. I definitely wouldn't post a video of a compilation of such terrible activity on YouTube. Cyclists possess a little more responsibility, for sure. But only marginally so. They have much more in common with those pedestrians than the motorised traffic they share the road with.

I'm sure there are countless examples of appalling cycling out there. I have no doubt it exists. But most of the stuff in that video looks perfectly civilised to me.

is everyone in York a drug runner?
they all look like drug runners.
maybe that's why pointy camera man is filming them.

Absolutely not. It's completely different. And if you can't see that, it's not worth discussing tbh. I will just revert you back to my previous example about pedestrians, and the fact that many cities across the world have already legalised left turns at red lights on bicycles. As already pointed out in this thread, Britain is sadly lagging behind when it comes to common sense.

Some of those red light jumps were really stupid. Others, not so much.

Here in Germany people cycle everywhere. No one gets het up, or angry, or starts pointing fingers. It's just another pedestrian on a bike out here.
On reflection, it just makes complaining about

bloody cyclists
such a typically English trait. Not a good one like real ale or cream tea. More like reading the Daily Mail or complaining about the weather or the people on benefits in the five bedroom detached next door.
It's a bit disheartening that cyclists on a cycling forum, tut about these
ashats
on bikes as they're breaking the law, rather than asking why the law puts vulnerable road users in the traffic. I for one, wish the uk could be a bit more far sighted and adapt a more central european stance on cycling. It's not a special club, it's just someone on a bike.

+1 for our continental friend here.

Roads were built for bikes, take the power back etc etc.
